VQS1000 Video Quality Software

Real-Time QoE Monitoring and Analysis of Video Transmitted Through Any Network

VQS1000 Video Quality software is the heart of Tektronix QoE monitoring capabilities and can be combined with any Tektronix network probe to enable real time assessment of video impairments on MPEG-2 or H.264 encoded content, including stuck, black, blockiness as well as compression artifacts, for selected services. The VQS1000 Video Quality software significantly improves the reliability and accuracy of artifact measurement by performing a full decode on the video stream. The full decode allows operators to determine if the source of a problem is in the content source (for example over-compression) or in network distribution. Engineers can clearly see and validate the presence of impairments on the image using unique impairment displays that highlight the location and severity of video defects. In addition, audio diagnostics allow operators to analyze audio loudness related problems tothe ITU-R BS.1770/1771 Audio Loudness standard.

Overview:

Features

Benefits

Reliable and accurate video artifact measurement by performing a full decode on the video stream.

Allows operators to determine if the source of a problem is in the content source (for example over-compression) or in network distribution.

Analysis of decoded MPEG-2, AC-3, MPEG-2 AAC and MPEG-4 AAC audio in accordance with ITU-R BS.1770/1771 and ATSC A/85.

Allows operators in all regions to analyze loudness related problems to the ITU audio standards.

Alarms with configurable impairment magnitude, duration and frequency thresholds and automated round robin polling sequentially checks services within an MPTS.

Alert users to content that will impact customers' viewing experience, along with a capture of the impaired content.

Triggered capture with pre-trigger buffer and offline file analysis mode with support for MPTS, SPTS and ES files.

Enables archive of impairments or offline video quality analysis to be performed.

QoE results are reflected in monitoring probe's Remote User Interface and event log interleaved with the TS and Physical layer (IP and RF) QoS errors.

Easily distinguish between errors that are caused by Network issues (dropped packets, CC errors etc.) and errors which do not have a corresponding Network Issue and are therefore caused by an upstream encoder problem.

Can be used with all Tektronix DTV monitoring probe configurations using robust private backhauled video from the monitoring probes.

Identify systemic issues that are otherwise hard to track down and optimize network configuration and equipment settings to deliver the best viewing experience possible within bandwidth constraints to their customers.

Results available to management systems through monitoring probes SNMP MIB.

Integrate QoE monitoring into Network Management Systems.

Multiple instances can be run per license (dependent on PC processing power and video content type).

Enables service comparison at different network locations.
